CASA

KAPPA ALPHA THETA PHILANTHROPY
Through fundraisers and volunteer work, the Kansas City alumnae chapter is a proud supporter of the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, including scholarships, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and the Kappa Alpha Theta Friendship Fund.

Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation
CASA - COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATE
Kappa Alpha Theta is a national supporter of CASA. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Appointed by a judge, a trained CASA volunteer speaks on the behalf of neglected and abused children in court. According to www.nationalcasa.org, the idea began with a Seattle judge who used trained volunteers to speak for the best interest of children. Based on its success, the US Congress passed the Victims of Child Abuse Act in 1990 to encourage the expansion of CASA. Today, 52,000 CASA volunteers help abused and neglected children to find a safe, permanent, and loving home.
The Kansas City Kappa Alpha Theta alumnae's annual fundraiser benefits the Wyandotte, Jackson, and Johnson County CASA programs. Additionally, Theta sisters gather every Decemeber to decorate and stuff Christmas stockings for CASA children.

FRIENDSHIP FUND
The Friendship Fund helps Theta sisters during times of financial distress, natural disasters, illness, and urgent family crisis. The Kansas City alumnae chapter collects donations for the Friendship Fund during our Founder's Day celebration. To learn more about the program or to make a donation, please see the Kappa Alpha Theta Headquarters web site.
